First Photocyprus Photo Trip

Posted by Ade Berry on October 22, 2010 at 11:35 AM

Ok guys and gals, here it is, the first Photocyprus photo trip!!!

Our plan is to travel to Karavostasi, north west of Morphou in Northern Cyprus. The site we intend to visit is an old copper mine, which was closed during the troubles in the 74. It is currently owned by the American Mining Corporation (AMC), but is inactive. It is an open mine, so no tunnels. Following the visit to the mine, and time allowing, we will then go to the coast, a few kilometres away, to shoot the pier which was used to load the ore onto ships for transportation. At the mine site, you will find railway engines and rolling stock abandoned when the mine was closed, along with other machinery and some buildings.

Amanda from admin will be emailing you all to see which of you wish to join us on this trip, we will then notify you of times and meeting places etc. We apologise in advance to those members outside of Cyprus who will be unable to join us.

The planned dates are either the 13th or 14th November, so we will arrange it according to how many are available on which day.

There is a new crossing point to the north at Limnitis in the west, and those of us from the east of the island will probably cross at Nicosia.

Let us know soon

Look forward to hearing from you.
