We now have a new name for Professional and Amateur photographer members. As part of PhotoCyprus community you will now have the title of SPPI (Society of Professional Photographers International) or SAPI ( Society of Amateur Photographers International)

Our Current Member's will be given honerable staus (as lomg as all information on their profile is correctly filled in adhearing the specific guidelines ie no company or nick names as part of your profile) which will give them free life membership

Walt Malone - 'Knowing more than your Camera!'

We are planning to do our first seminar here in Cyprus with Walt Malone. We are just testing the water to see how many people would be interested in the following.

There will be two parts to the seminar to suit all budgets and time restrictions that we have in our day to day life.

First of all the seminar will be based on Environmental portraiture entitled 'Knowing more than your Camera' Walt will be looking at understanding and recognizing existing light, how to balance existing light with flash and or course very importantly how to properly compose a photograph.

The first session will be a 3-4 hour seminar group which will cost around 45 euros per person

The second session will be a full day session, including lunch and will cost aound 180 euros per person.

Of course people can join both sessions if they wish.

The seminar will be on Febuary the 5th and 6th 2012 (Sunday and Monday)

Due to the sucess of the exhibition at the Melina Mercouri Hall, Nicosia photoCyprus has decided to open the Awards 2010 Exhibition for the second time. Giving an opportunity to our members, friends and family to see the beautiful images produced by our members in our first year as a community.

The Awards 2010 exhibition is now open at Gallery Zo, Paralimni from now until the 6th of May.

On sunday we all braved the rain and piled into the car and headed off to Karpasia. We were very lucky to meet two of our newest members Hajid and Eleheh from Iran.

New Improvements to photoCyprus

We are writting to tell you of some new improvements we have made to your photoCyprus experience.

1. Easier way to view

we have now categorized each of the categories in to their months. Even though when you first visit the photo competition page you will still see all of the categories as we have been used to in the previous months, BUT now to make it easier we have now organized them. As you can see there is now a new feature in the right hand sidebar, this has the categories listed in their months so to see that month only simply click on the month in the side bar and you will see only categories from that month.

2. APRIL COMPETITION IS NOW OPEN! With the introduction of our new Feature this allows us to open next month’s competition earlier, giving you more time to enter your images into our competitions.

Please feel free to let us know what you think about the new features and if you find any issues with then so we can work hard to correct them if any.

The Akamas Adventure 4/5-12-2010

The 5th of December was the day of the Akamas Adventure! And an adventure it truly was. Some people decided to ‘get back to Nature’ and camp out the night before, in a beautiful little camping site in Polis. The rest of us made our way to the Aphrodite Bath to meet and begin the trail. It was an early start and many things for us all to see but we were all well prepared and really exited. After we all met some new faces we plied in to the convoy, 5 car strong and we were off.

We must say a big thank you to Thomas Phillipou for organizing and leading us to some breath-taking sights around the area.

After tons of photos and even more dust we ended the day with a lovely coffee back at a little restaurant at Aphrodite bath.

Once again we all had an amazing trip filled with lots of fun and photos.

Hope to see more of you on the next trip (19th of December to Kyrinia)
